Jaipur and Ranthambhore
Following an internal flight from Chandigarh airport to Jaipur. it was all change again. From the cool mountain air of Shimla we were in a hot city with temperatures in the low 30's.
The itenary had to be changed for this part of our adventure as it was the Holi festival. We started our visits off with a tour of Amber city's vast sixth-century hilltop fort, reached by jeep. This was followed by a visit to the City Palace and then a visit to a rug producer. We past the extraordinary building of Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of the Winds'.
Before leaving Jaipur and heading off to Ranthambhore we visited the Jantar Mantar, an observatory constructed in 1724, another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ranthambhore Nation Park is one of the largest and most famous national parks in North India and one that we hoped to see a Tiger (or two!) on one of our two jungle safaris.
